World record for most cereal boxes toppled could be hit in Ontario town [Video]

Cereal donations are pouring in but plenty more is needed to break a Guinness World Record for the most boxes of cereal toppled like dominoes and, more importantly, support families in Durham Region facing food insecurity.

The Knock Down Hunger Challenge, the first Canadian attempt to beat the record, is happening on Canada Day at the Rickards Complex in Bowmanville.

The goal is to beat the record of 12,952 boxes, currently held by the non-profit organization Move For Hunger, which set the record at the Detroit Pistons Performance Center in 2023 with Tony the Tiger of Frosted Flakes fame himself in attendance.

Their domino setup was more than double the size of the record set at Long Beach Middle School in California in 2021.

Nancy LeBlanc from the Seeds of Hope Project and lead organizer for the event, said she is confident the record will be broken on July 1.
