HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – As the weather in Connecticut trends muggier and warmer this week, it may also get smokier.

Some wildfire smoke from Canada could show up at ground level in the western part of the state by Tuesday evening.

“[Wednesday], thicker, upper-level smoke gets here,” said meteorologist Jill Gilardi. “Some of that is going to reach down to the surface. It might smell a little smoky.”

Gilardi said it may be particularly noticeable in northern Litchfield County during the early afternoon hours of Wednesday.

However, as of Tuesday morning, there was no air quality alert in place.

“If that changes, we’ll be the first to alert you,” Gilardi said.

Still, Gilardi said that folks who are super sensitive to air quality may want to stay indoors Tuesday night through Wednesday.

“Especially if it’s flaring up your asthma, or things like that,” she said.
