The holiday travel season is ramping up this weekend as many people head out of town to see friends and family.
Friday is expected to be the busiest day of the holiday season at Vancouver International Airport, when about 80,000 passengers are expected to make their way through the terminal.
Some are going to see loved ones elsewhere, while others have come here seeking what they call a truly “Canadian Christmas.”
“A white Christmas. We’re here because in Australia, it’s summertime, so we’ve just had a week of 40-degree weather, so it’s been a big heat wave. I’m very excited for a white Christmas, hopefully, and just the cold. It’s gonna be completely different. I can’t wait,” said Abbey Kroon, from Adelaide, Australia.
