LaSalle police were rewarding sober drivers with candy canes during a RIDE program over the weekend.

Officers teamed up with Windsor & Essex County Crime Stoppers for the blitz on Saturday night and handed out candy canes to sober drivers as a thank you for planning ahead and driving safely.

Over 400 vehicles were canvassed and one roadside test was administered.

No suspensions or charges were laid for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

LaSalle police officers are continuing to educate drivers on the consequences of driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Plan ahead and ensure everyone gets home safely.
