NATCHEZ, MS. (KNOE) – The 36th annual Natchez Powwow featured members of different Native American tribes from all across the country. According to the First Nations Education and Cultural Center, modern powwows are intertribal celebrations of culture, dance and song.

Jeremy Printup is part of the 6 Nations of Iroquois and hasn’t danced for 13 years. He says powwows allow people to come together to heal.

“It’s just a good feeling. It makes me feel good when I’m out there, my spirit feels stronger. It’s something that I guess that we all need, especially for us native people. So it helps us get stronger and helps us in life,” Printup says.
