Emergency responders were called to a fire in Cambridge on Thursday as flames ripped through the building that formerly belonged to the Peter Hay Knife Company.

Waterloo Regional Police confirm they were called to the Victoria Avenue area at 5:05 a.m.

Firefighters remained on scene after the sun had risen, pouring water onto the charred roof. They were still there by 3 p.m.

Later in the day, heavy equipment was spotted at the property and debris littered the ground.

No details have been shared about what started the fire or how significant the damage is.

Crews were previously called to the building for another fire in June.

The Peter Hay Knife is now located at 351 Sheldon Drive.
