Kellogg’s CEO’s comments drew swift reaction online, as some asked whether the he would feed his own family sugary cereal for dinner and others saying they have been having cereal for dinner for years.

Frosted flakes for the famished — that is WK Kellogg’s U.S. CEO Gary Pilnick’s tip for those struggling with the cost of living, suggesting that consumers should have “cereal for dinner” in order to save on food costs. 

In an interview on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street, Pilnick paraded the idea of marketing to “reach the consumer where they are.”
