Fire department warns against buying off-brand rechargeable lithium batteries

Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services say modified lithium batteries were to blame for two fires in the city’s Downtown Eastside this past weekend. Capt. Matthew Trudeau warns that fires caused by off-brand replacement batteries for devices like phones, laptops and e-bikes have resulted in fatalities.
