ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Warnings and advisories for snow, rain, ice glaze and strong winds are in place for western Alaska. Blizzard conditions are happening along the Yukon Delta coast. Winds gusting to 40 mph and snowfall of 3-6 inches. These weather conditions will reduce visibility and make travel difficult.
High pressure is holding over southeast Alaska, but will be breaking down over the weekend. That will allow low pressure to slip back into the Gulf of Alaska, returning clouds and precipitation to southcentral and the panhandle.
Southcentral will stay in the clear through Friday. Increasing clouds will be see across the city Saturday afternoon. But as far as a chance of new snow in Anchorage…pretty slim until mid-week next week.
Hot spot was Metlakatla with 53 degrees. Cold spot was Northway with 16 degrees below zero.
