The Bondi Girls Surfriders wrote on Instagram that paddle-outs are a time-honoured tradition originating from Hawaii for surfers to gather on the water and pay tribute to a life, or lives, lost: ‘This involves surfers paddling out to sea to form a circle to take a moment to reflect on those lives taken too soon’
