Indigenous activist Joely BigEagle-Kequahtooway says “it’s a real slap in the face” that Regina city council decided not to rename Dewdney Avenue. It was named after Edgar Dewdney, who helped institute Canada’s reserve system and establish residential schools. BigEagle-Kequahtooway has been working to get the avenue renamed for eight years.
