Eclipse viewing

An eclipse is scheduled to happen Monday across North America, with the path of totality stretching from Mazatlan to Newfoundland, crossing Texas, Cleveland, Lake Ontario and Maine. Utahns are expected to see between 40% and 60% of the sun obscured. Clark Planetarium, at 110 S. 400 West in Salt Lake City, is offering eclipse viewing glasses, while supplies last — and is arranging viewing parties, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in Pioneer Park, 350 S. 300 West, Salt Lake City, and Gary C. Swensen Valley Regional Park, 5100 S. 2700 West, Taylorsville. Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum, at 660 W. 400 North, Blanding, has a viewing party scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting. All events are free to the public.
