Minister Paul Pike, who is responsible for seniors’ issues, said he will be meeting with funeral home operators within the week to review rates. He also stated that the Newfoundland and Labrador government paid for 360 funerals last year. Pike was responding to CBC’s story, and some criticism from advocates, about bodies being stored in freezer units on Health Sciences Centre property in St. John’s.
