RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) – Missing without a trace.. an issue that has been ongoing in Native American communities for years in the U.S. and South Dakota.

The missing and murdered indigenous persons rate in the state continues to rise … in South Dakota alone, sixty percent of all missing cases involve an indigenous person. Many believe the number to be much higher.

An issue that many Native Americans consider to be overlooked … missing and murdered indigenous people … the rate is high across the country.

According to the South Dakota Missing Persons Clearinghouse, more than 130 people identified as either American Indian or Alaskan Native are still classified as missing.
