One of the first indigenous reporters in the Last Frontier has died.

Nellie Moore passed away from complications due to a long illness.

“Nellie had her tape recorder and a microphone. They say a picture is worth a thousand words,” Alex Hills told Alaska Public Media. “In this case, Nellie was leaning forward, and the governor of Alaska was leaning back. That told me a lot about her interview style.”

She was 69 years old.
