People took to the streets in Cuba over the weekend in a rare public show of dissatisfaction with the island’s communist government. The protests reportedly began in Cuba’s second city of Santiago de Cuba when mothers turned up at a government building complaining that they could not provide for their children. Similar protests broke out in the nearby town of El Cobre. Cuba has been facing food shortages and power cuts, exacerbated by an economic slump and soaring inflation
