South Australia’s First Nations peoples to vote on state Voice to Parliament

Indigenous and Torres Strait Islanders in South Australia will return to the polls to vote on the Voice on Saturday.

They will be electing the state’s Voice to Parliament, the first of its kind in the country and candidates are not taking the traditional competitive approach.

Of the 113 candidates, Indigenous and Torres Strait Islanders will elect 46 people on March 16 in a historic election.

12 of the elected members would then be selected to form a state Voice to Parliament.

The Voice will provide a direct line of communication between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and key decision-makers.
