Town of Alberton looks to clean up rat problem [Video]

The Town of Alberton has a rat problem.

Residents have seen the rodents running around the western P.E.I. town, scurrying under their decks. Rats have even gotten into their cars.

Mayor Brian Poirier said the concerns first surfaced last summer.

“Has it started yet this year? Probably.”

As you walk down the streets of the community you can spot some of the traps put down by exterminators to try to deal with the issue.

The town of Alberton has a rat problem. The animals are scurrying around people’s homes, under decks and even getting inside cars. Mayor Brian Poirier explains what’s being done to address the problem.

The town has scheduled a community cleanup day for Saturday, May 4 in an attempt to get rid of any loose trash or debris.
