If you haven’t noticed, the landscape of Nebraska is a tapestry of many cultures, many voices, many colors and many peoples. This ever-changing landscape is the Nebraska of today.

It is not simply a state of white skin. We are from Africa, South America, Mexico, the Middle East. We are Indigenous, and all of us deserve to be treated with equity, inclusion and with the understanding that our diversity makes us truly great.

No one is asking for “differential treatment.” No one is asking for “special treatment.” We are simply asking for the right to live with the same rights and privileges that others get to experience without the same judgment and hatred that we are consistently forced to face.

We are asking for the ability to have the same jobs, share the same spaces, live the same lives that white privileged Nebraskans get to experience. By intentionally detracting from …
