PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Portland Winterhawks forward Nate Danielson has been named the Western Hockey League’s Player of the Week, the team announced Monday.
Danielson led all players in the playoffs with seven points (one goal, six assists) over the week, during the three games played in the team’s Western Conference Championship series.
The Red Deer, Alberta native had three assists in the team’s 4-1 victory in Game 3, and added three more and his first goal of the series in Portland’s 5-2 win in Game 4. He was held scoreless in the Hawks’ 6-1 defeat in Game 5.
Danielson, 19, was acquired by the Winterhawks in a trade with the Brandon Wheat Kings in January. He was the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings.
