Yankton Sioux Tribe blesses Veterans Community Project tiny homes in Sioux Falls [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – As the Veterans Community Project continues to come together and expand in Sioux Falls, a Native American tribe passed a blessing onto the homes on Saturday.

At 10:00 a.m., the Yankton Sioux Tribe toured the homes and gave a blessing, symbolically binging the homes in love and safety.

When completed, the village will have 25 tiny homes and a stylized teepee will be incorporated into the windows of the homes yet to be completed to pay homage to Sioux Falls’ rich Native American culture.

“Our people, we really honor our veterans a lot. We hold them in high regard. To our people, they’re the saviors, so we come here today to honor them with our songs,” said tribe member Wesley Hare.
