It’s an annual event highlighting athleticism and Alaska Native traditions, and it’s happening right now in Anchorage. The Native Youth Olympics has participants in events like the stick pole, the seal hop, and the scissor broad job. About 500 students from all across the state are here to participate and show off their skills.
Tessa Anderson of the Mount Edgecumbe Braves always gets a bit nervous, but she’s ready nonetheless saying, “This is my third year doing it, so I’m used to it now. It’s always been fun every single time.”
