Alberta municipal election bill not an attack on local democracy: minister | Power & Politics

A new bill in Alberta will give the provincial government more power over municipalities. That includes allowing cabinet the power to remove councillors from office and to repeal bylaws. While some call it an overreach, Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Ric McIver says some of those powers have already long existed.
