Mushers forge ahead to Nulato and Kaltag, Nic Petit claims ‘First Musher to the Yukon Award’ | Homepage [Video]

Cripple marks the halfway point on the Northern route of the Iditarod. Many mushers have now passed that checkpoint with a large group also reaching Ruby and Galena.

They now have their sights set on Nulato and Kaltag.

One lucky musher is continuing his journey to Nome with a belly full of food. Nic Petit won the “First Musher to the Yukon Award” by being the first musher to reach the checkpoint in Ruby.

For his prize, Petit was treated to a gourmet meal prepared by two incredible Alaskan chefs. The Iditarod shared photos taken by Siti Raitto on Facebook.
